In Short: Paramount does another excellent job- although there are no extras, the picture quality on this 24-year-old film is wonderful.

The Movie:
"3 Days Of The Condor" stars Robert Redford as a CIA analyst on the run when his associates are murdered in his office. Fearing for his life after another meeting ends in gunfire, Redford's character kidnaps a photographer(Faye Dunaway) and hides out in her apartment.

Redford is excellent in the title role as well as Dunaway. It's a very well-written and intelligent paranoid thriller and although sometimes it does drag a bit, the majority remains a consistently entertaining effort from director Sydney Pollack.

The DVD VIDEO: For a film that's a little over 20 years old, this is an outstanding looking image. The picture quality doesn't look like it's aged much and the colors are suprisingly rich and vivid, never looking pale and always well-saturated. Even more pleasing is how sharp and clear the image is, with excellent detail visible throughout.

The 2.35:1 picture is 16x9 enhanced and Paramount has done a really strong job fixing up the image quality on this disc. There's really nothing wrong with the print, either. There may have been a few slight scratches, but nothing terribly noticable at all. Theere's nothing in the way of aliasing or pixelization. Like the work that they did on Terrence Malick's 20 year old "Days Of Heaven" on DVD, this is simply excellent work at bringing an older picture new life.

SOUND: There's really not that much to the soundtrack, mainly all dialogue and that rather funky 70's score. What action there is doesn't have much force in terms of sound, but there's really no problems with the soundtrack such as distortion or hiss. Dialogue is clean and clear as well. .

MENUS:Basic film-themed menus based around the poster art.

EXTRAS:The trailer.

Final Thoughts: Although there isn't much in the way of extras, the picture quality is excellent on this Paramount release. With the amount of effort that was put into this release in terms of general quality, I really think that when Paramount soon begins to add more in the way of value-added features combined with their excellent transfers, they will definitely be a force in the DVD industry.
