The biggest failure in film all year(it made all of 3 million on its opening weekend) actually is pretty darn funny. Trey Parker
and Matt Stone(creators of "South Park") are two losers who invent a backyard sports game called "Baseketball"(you move around the bases if you make the basket) and
the object of the game is to "psych-out" your opponent by grossing them out.
Professional sports gets a good send up in the film with jokes about "give-away" nights, etc, but unfortunately, the film is more about showcasing
Parker and Stone. They're funny, but I'm not sure they were meant to be actors. Especially funny is the main gag, about a child in a sort of "make a wish"
foundation, which Stone and Parker take to a bar on the night before the child's liver operation.
What the film gets by on is the complete lack of good taste, enough so that you can't help but laugh at most of the easy jokes that fly by at a tremendous rate.
The film is generally good natured and energetic, enough to forgive it for missing the opportunity to send up professional sports more strongly. Still, there were many
moments where I laughed loudly in a film that deserved a little bit better reception at the box office. I certainly found it funnier than "The Waterboy".
The Disc:
Picture: Phenomenal. Images are bright and full of color on this disc, which is 1.85:1 and 16x9 enhanced. Images are razor sharp and wonderfully clear on the disc, one of the better
transfers I've seen this year. No compression artifacts spotted in this excellent work.
Audio: Perfectly clear, but pretty relaxed sound mix that is fine for what it is, but won't do much for your sound system. The songs do sound great, though.
Menus:Nice, but basic, with choices over shots of the film in the background.
Extras: The music video for Reel Big Fish's phenomenal version of A-Ha's "Take On Me", a featurette and the trailer, along with some notes about the production and cast

Overview:If you aren't fans of "South Park" or were one of the four people who saw this in theaters(I didn't even see it in theaters), rent it. If you're a fan, it's a well-done disc and a suprisingly funny film.
