The Movie:
I'm not an Eagles fan, really. I don't mind their music, but I'm one of those people who pretty much has just heard "Hotel California" (I mean, who hasn't?). As part of their reunion in 1994, they played this show and I was quite impressed with the talents of the group of musicians, who play with intensity and energy for the span of 90 minutes and 17 songs from their history. Songs include:
1. Hotel California
2. Tequila Sunrise
3. Help Me Through The Night
4. The Heart Of The Matter
5. Love Will Keep Us Alive
6. Learn To Be Still
7. Pretty Maids All In A Row
8. The Girl From Yesterday
9. Wasted Time
10. I Can't Tell You Why
11. New York Minute
12. The Last Resort
13. Take It Easy
14. Life In The Fast Lane
15. In The City
16. Get Over It
17. Desperado
Bonus Track: Seven Bridges Road
Before the concert, we go backstage with the band to hear interviews about the history of the group. All in all, I found it to be a very entertaining show with great music.
The DVD
VIDEO: The full-frame image on this DVD is very good, but not quite one of the most impressive offerings I've ever seen from a concert presentation. Images are generally quite clear and with good detail, and colors of the lights are captured well, too. The footage of interviews that starts off the presentation isn't too pleasing, but after the band gets going, things get considerably better.
SOUND: I've heard quite a few concert recordings on DVD recently, but I have to say that this is easily one of the most impressive, surrounding the viewer with a clear, precise sound from the music that was remarkable. It's a very "front-row" feeling that's very enjoyable, and made it very involving. Every detail of the instruments is apparent, and the sound drifts cleanly and clearly throughout the room. Vocals also come through perfectly. This is a marvelous sounding presentation, and fans of the band will enjoy it greatly.
MENUS:: Nicely animated main menus, but there's not much detail to them and there's not sound playing in the background, which would have been nice.
EXTRAS:: There's only one extra on the album - an audio-only presentation of "Seven Bridges Road" in DTS.
Final Thoughts: Although I'm not a fan of the band, I liked the concert and the DTS audio is quite a pleasure to listen to. Recommended .
