The Movie:

This disc offers the presentation by Dr. Andrew Weil, who believes in alternative forms of diet and medication. Although this is the first time that I've viewed this presentation, I believe that it was also broadcast on television previously.

Weil, who speaks here from New York's botanical garden, goes through his philosophies on unhealthy diets, vitamins and other supplements that people look for in today's society. It seems like a bit of an infomerical for the book of the same name by the doctor, but it also provides some interesting insights on the way our culture eats, and how to make eating healthy food pleasurable.

The doctor also informs the audience about the roles of fats, carbohydrates and protein, and how much of each is right for us. All people are different, but Weil gives a general overview of not only how people can change their diet to make them feel better, but he also gives a fascinating viewpoint of society's look at eating.

The DVD

VIDEO/AUDIO: The full-frame picture offers an impressively solid picture, with good color and detail. Easily better than broadcast quality or the VHS edition probably looks. The stereo soundtrack is as good as can be expected from a presentation like this, and the words of the doctor are always clear.

MENUS:: Nicely designed menus that are non-animated, but easily navigated.

EXTRAS: Recipes, Suggested Reading & weblinks.

Final Thoughts: $24.98 is asking a little much for the 82 minute presentation and nothing else. The doctor's thoughts on eating are quite interesting to listen to once, but I don't think many will watch this more than once.
