The Movie:
I've never heard of Jeff Buckley before, although I'm aware that he has quite a major following. After watching this concert, recorded in 1995, I can see why. An intense performer, the concert veers from quiet, haunting moments to energetic rock. This performance was recorded at Chicago's Cabaret Metro, which is an excellent venue that I've been to a couple of times, which combines an intimate setting with fine sound that serves to highlight the music. I was really very impressed with the power of the performance from Buckley and his talented band, and for those who haven't heard of him, I highly recommend checking out this DVD.

The DVD
VIDEO: The full-frame image is certainly watchable, but there are some slight problems that pop up from time to time. Some shimmering and minor pixelation occur a handful of times, but otherwise, this is an enjoyable presentation from Sony. Images are generally sharp and clear, although there's a shot or two now and then that looks a little hazy.
SOUND: The audio, on the other hand, is really quite solid. This is a full, rich sound that has no trouble whatsoever filling the room, portraying the small setting of the Metro really well. The music, whether a subtle, soft song or hard rock, is captured with remarkable clarity and detail. Buckley's voice is also well-presented. Audience cheering is heard between songs, but never overshadows the music at all.
MENUS:: Sony has done a really nice job on the menus, with subtle animation and Buckley's music playing in the background.
EXTRAS:
Bonus Songs: In the studio: "So Real" and "Last Goodbye".
Electronic Press-Kit: This is the EPK for Buckley's album "Grace". More of a documentary, this presenation features an interview with Buckley as well as footage of him playing. This documentary lasts about 17 minutes and gives insight into Buckley and his music.

Final Thoughts: A great performance - recommended especially for fans of the artist, who will really enjoy this performance.
