The film: It's a little hard to begin reviewing "The Video Collection" when there is a far better Sarah McLachlan release out there, but the disc does have its positive aspects. While it's good that fans can own a collection of videos from the singer, the presentation is really just adequate. In comparison to the singer's other DVD release though, it definitely comes up short. "Mirrorball", which was released in 1999, displays the singer in concert - not only is it an outstanding performance, but it offers nifty additions such as a rather lengthy interview with the singer and some multiple angles on a couple of songs. It also provides better audio, with the music filling the room very well in 5.1 . It still stands up as one of the best concert DVDs I've had the pleasure of watching. While the sound isn't quite as good on "the video collection", the video quality on the songs included here is definitely good, although it does tend to vary with the age of the video. The songs included are: Songs Include: "Vox (Canadian Version)," "Steaming," "Ben's Song," "Vox (U.S. Version)," "The Path Of Thorns (Terms)," "Into The Fire," "Drawn To The Rhythm," "Possession (Canadian Verison)," "Hold On," "Good Enough," "Possession (U.S. Version)," "I Will Remember You," "Building A Mystery," "Sweet Surrender," and "Adia." There are no notable extras, and the menus are a little hard to get around at first. For fans of the singer who are looking for a video collection, it does that job adequately, although there could have been some improvements. Once you compare this to "Mirrorball" though(and the fact that "Mirrorball" is retail priced $10 cheaper), that release is easily a better choice.
