The DVD:

If you've been in a science class in the past few years or watched one of those "amazing footage" shows, you're probably already familiar with at least some of "Nature's Fury", a National Geographic documentary that takes a look at the power of nature and how it can become incredibly distructive.

Profiled are a number of tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes and other forces of nature. Most famous is probably footage of a group who finds that a tornado is chasing them in their car("Uh, we'd better go faster!"), and they take cover under a bridge as a twister goes over them.

Most impressive about the disc is the sound. I was incredibly pleased when I saw that Warner has remastered the sound in Dolby Digital 5.1(the other National Geographic programs I've seen are not). It's still not agressive (it's originally a TV program), but the sound does open up effectively, with additional strength and some slight, but enjoyable surround use. Narration is crystal clear.

The video quality in any documentary like this varies - the footage is from a lot of different places, and although the quality in specific areas is a bit off, the disc itself consistently has a very strong full-frame image.

As with the other "National Geographic" features, we get some really solid extra features. First up is the documentary "Tornado Hunters", which shows a group of storm chasers who hunt twisters(and, as we find out, sometimes have twisters hunt them, as well). The documentary revolves around the insane people who pay money ($2,000 bucks!) to get in a van and follow a storm chaser around the South, with no guarantee that they will see an actual twister. This is a very good program though, and I learned quite a bit about twisters. The twister footage is incredible, as well. This is in Dolby 2.0.

The other program is "Lightning Strikes", which is also 18 minutes in length. The documentary focuses on the facts about lightning itself, and the people who have been hit by it. Personally, I liked the "Tornado Hunters" program better. This is also in Dolby 2.0.

Also included is a small photo gallery, interactive disaster map, quiz, trailers for other national geographic programs, and web links. Overall, a very good deal. Recommended.
