In Short: More adventures in overpriced DVD efforts from Di$ney. A great movie that deserves a better presentation.

The Movie:

One of Disney's most famous efforts, "Peter Pan" tells the tale of a trio of kids who believe in the story of Peter Pan, a boy who never grows up. One night, Pan comes to visit the kids and take them off to Neverland, where the band have a run-in with Captain Hook, who became one of the most popular Disney villians. The animation is impressive throughout and the story/characters are definitely enjoyable for all ages.

The DVD

VIDEO:
Like "101 Dalmatians" and "Pinocchio" this is a very enjoyable full-frame transfer that looks impressive for a film of its age. Colors are suprisingly nice, looking rich and solid throughout. Images are suprisingly sharp and detail is nice throughout. The lack of all but some slight amounts of grain also helps this picture look more clear and clean overall. If anything, I found this to be slightly more impressive than the other two efforts mentioned, with a cleaner picture and colors that were more pure and striking. Definitely a very good looking image for a picture of its age.

SOUND:
It's certainly not a new picture, but the basic elements that are presented here are in excellent condition, with the score sounding clear and natural and dialogue sounding fine as well. Definitely very good. Nothing in the way of hiss or distortion.

MENUS:: Like all of the other Disney animated titles, this is another missed opportunity; instead of creating an animated menu to introduce the movie, the menu included is very basic.

EXTRAS: There aren't any. For $39.99, you don't even get a trailer. There are though, of course, the usual Disney "film recommendations" which are on this disc, of course, the other animated DVDs. How creative.

Final Thoughts There's nothing in the way of extras and although the picture quality is very strong, I don't think it justifies charging nearly 40 bucks.
