The Movie:
One of the best stand-up comics, Chris Rock also spent time on "Saturday Night Live", and has since moved on to feature films like "Lethal Weapon 4" and "Dogma". This DVD features some of his best bits while on "Saturday Night Live", such as an MTV skit where Rock is the lead singer of a "Boyz II Men" type R&B band as well as a talk show called "I'm Chillin" and a parody of "Def Comedy Jam".
Many have said that "Saturday Night Live" has become worse in the past few seasons and, well, I'd agree with them. Lately, there's maybe a funny skit or two during a show, at most. And the movies SNL has unleashed upon audiences. Well, don't get me started with that. But, with Trimark's DVD series on SNL, we can at least get to see some of the best moments from members of the cast such as Rock, Chris Farley and Steve Martin, among others.

The DVD
VIDEO: As usual for a TV presentation, the image is presented full-frame and it looks excellent, noticably better than the usual TV broadcast quality each week. Although some of the older skits don't look quite as solid, the quality in general is pleasing. Images are adequately sharp, and colors are solid and nicely saturated. There's a few very minor instances of shimmering and pixelation, but those are the only problems that are noticable.
SOUND: "Best Of Chris Rock" is presented in stereo and it does the job quite well for a dialogue-driven TV program. A nice balance is achieved, with both the audience applause and the dialogue coming through with fine clarity.
MENUS:: Wonderful menus from Trimark, with the options placed on a strip in the lower half of the main menu, while a clip of the SNL opening, complete with theme music, plays in the background.
EXTRAS:2 additional skits, and information about when each of the clips in the main presentation aired.
