The DVD
VIDEO: "Flintstones" is presented in 1.33:1 full-frame on this third season set. The show's image quality looks better this time around, with less visible wear. There's still some minor specks and marks on the elements used, but they appear less frequently. A bit of mild grain is present during some scenes too, but again, nothing serious. Sharpness and definition are generally good, as the details of the basic animation are clearly visible. No edge enhancement or pixelation were visible, and colors appeared bright and vivid.
SOUND: "Flintstones" is presented in mono. The original audio tracks sound pretty good, with no distortion or other issues. While audio quality is certainly not up to today's standards, dialogue and effects seemed clear.
EXTRAS: A featurette on the wives in the show, promos and an interesting featurette where a current "Flintstones" animator takes us through his collection of memorabilia from the show.
Final Thoughts: This third season of the "Flintstones" offers some terrific episodes, and is recommended for fans. The DVD doesn't offer much in the way of supplements, but audio/video quality is good, and video quality shows improvement in comparison to the prior season sets.
