In Short: A tiny version of "Deep Blue Sea" gets a nice-looking Trimark DVD.

The film:
Casper Van Dien("Starship Troopers") stars in this small-ish thriller that plays like a minor version of this Summer's "Deep Blue Sea". Although it's a smaller film, it's still a fairly entertaining effort, with decent dialogue and performances. Van Dien's character goes to Africa to study an increasing amount of deadly shark attacks and finds that there's more going on than it seems. The action scenes with the sharks are actually put together nicely.

"Shark Attack" certainly isn't a great film, but it certainly plays like one of the better cable thrillers out there. Certainly worth checking out as a rental.

The DVD VIDEO: This is actually a really nice looking full-frame image. The image is consistently sharp, clean and clear. Colors are very strong, vivid and well saturated. Detail is good as well, especially in the daylight scenes. There is occasional problems with shimmering, although nothing too terrible.

SOUND: A problem-free Dolby Stereo soundtrack with no distortion. Dialogue is fairly strong and there are some nice effects.

MENUS: Fairly basic main menus.

EXTRAS: The trailer.

Final Thoughts: It's not a great movie and it certainly seems like something you'd see on cable on a Saturday night, but it's not without it's good moments. A few nice action scenes and some nice location photography shot in Africa. Worth checking out as a rental.
